Vincent GILD · Visual artist
Biography
Born in 1974. Lives and works in Burgundy, France.

Vincent GILD is a French painter and sculptor based in Semur-en-Auxois, Burgundy.
2000s - He works as sculptor Marian Fountain’s assistant at her studio on Rue d’Orchampt in Montmartre, Paris, while developing musical projects with singer Nicolas Ker.
2008 - He devotes himself fully to painting and sculpture. Self-taught, he spends years experimenting with pigments, resin and oil paint to build dense, textured surfaces. His practice develops towards abstraction, informed by Art Informel and Lyrical Abstraction.
The son of an industrial patternmaker, Vincent GILD grew up among workshops, fascinated by the transformation of materials. After technical studies, he turned to music, collaborating with Nicolas Ker on works combining electronic and traditional instruments, before becoming Marian Fountain’s assistant.
This experience nurtured his interest in the alchemy of materials, from bronze patinas to the raw energy of artistic gestures. In 2008, he left music to focus fully on his visual practice.
His intuitive, experimental approach brings pigments, resins and oil together in textured works where light plays a central role. Each painting becomes a spiritual quest, a dialogue between shadow and radiance, chaos and harmony. Inspired by Jean Fautrier, Hans Hartung and Jackson Pollock, he embraces imperfection and chance as ways of revealing an invisible truth.
“My art is a journey between the visible and the sacred, an invitation to explore the vibrations of the soul and the mysteries of nature.”
Exhibited in France and internationally, his works express a deeply spiritual vision in which every texture and reflection becomes a meditation on the ephemeral and the timeless.
